Living with Autism: Communication Barriers and Strategies

Published on Apr 22, 2026

Living with Autism: Communication Barriers and Strategies is a 1‑hour, caregiver‑friendly webinar hosted by two speech‑language pathologists who support autistic communicators across the lifespan. Building on last year’s Autism 101 webinar, this session focuses on how autistic individuals communicate, what gets in the way, and how caregivers can foster connection through responsive, neurodiversity‑affirming strategies.

Together, we’ll explore real‑world communication challenges, the role of sensory and emotional regulation, and how to use tools like AAC, visuals, and supportive interaction strategies to create more ease in daily communication. Whether someone uses speech, gestures, AAC, behavior, or a mix of all of these, this webinar focuses on honoring each person’s communication style and empowering caregivers with practical, compassionate ways to support it.

*This webinar is not eligible for ASHA CEUs.
